iRest Personal Practice Immersion

Yogaville, Buckingham VA
with Robin Carnes

Come join us for this iRest Personal Practice Immersion (iPPI), where you will learn the principles and practice of iRest Yoga Nidra Meditation and experience the ways iRest can be used on and off the mat to foster a greater sense of freedom, synchronicity, authenticity and creativity in your daily life. This immersion is open to everyone, regardless of experience.

Through practice and dynamic dialogue you will

  • Learn the 10 steps of iRest
  • Experience body sensing and breath-sensing
  • Form an inner resource of well-being
  • Learn to meet difficult emotions and beliefs skillfully
  • Awaken to your true nature and essential wholeness

Woven between iRest meditations, we will experiment with playful, improvisational movement, sound, and art activities to reflect on what opens up to us and in us when actions flow spontaneously from our essential wholeness. Research shows that iRest Meditation effectively reduces stress, insomnia, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and post-traumatic stress disorder and enhances joy, equanimity and well-being throughout your daily life.

Mind-Body Skills for Extreme Stress and Trauma
Willow Street Yoga in Silver Spring, MD $55

The human nervous system wasn’t designed for the kind of 24/7 stimulation of today’s world. Many people experience symptoms of overstimulation such as anxiety, insomnia, worry, overwhelm, and headaches. Pharmaceuticals provide some relief, however in many cases they don’t address the underlying cause of the suffering — a hyper-aroused nervous system.

Fortunately, you can learn evidence-based methods to alleviate these symptoms, and improve your nervous system’s functioning. In this workshop we will practice evidence-based, easy to learn exercises that down-regulate the nervous system and help you feel more peaceful and in control. You will receive handouts and tips on how to incorporate the practices into your daily routine. The workshop is appropriate for anyone, regardless of previous yoga and meditation experience.

August 13, 2017  2-4:30pm
Meditation as an Act of Non-violent Resistance; Letting Your Practice Fuel Your Activism
Willow Street Yoga Center in Takoma Park, MD $30

As the world changes at an unprecedented rate, we may find ourselves facing strong personal, professional and political challenges. As caring people and concerned citizens we want to DO something to help. Yoga teaches us that when our actions emerge from inner equanimity and compassion they are more likely to be part of the solution to our problems. Working with movement, breath and meditation, we will explore how to make the inner shifts necessary to resist overwhelm and reactivity and act from a place of peace. No experience needed with yoga or meditation.
